The Enemy's Power Is Broken

Our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. (Romans 6:6)

As Christians, we often become discouraged when tempted by sinful habits we thought were eliminated at the point of our salvation. The truth is, we still live in a fallen world under the influence of Satan.

Because you are a child of God, the enemy no longer holds the title to your life. Spiritually you are seated in heaven with Christ (Col. 3:3). However, this does not free you from the strife of Satan's disastrous intentions. Salvation only shifts his goal for your life from one of eternal death to one of ineffectiveness.

Sin is his favorite weapon because he knows it damages your relationship with God. However, the Cross eternally broke the power of sin. You no longer have to yield to its temptation. When temptation comes, remember the enemy's power has been broken. Jesus is your strong Advocate before the Father. Confess your sins, claim His forgiveness, and continue your life in the light of His grace.

The Lord is merciful and gracious. Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy (Ps. 103:8).

Christians should be the most joyful people on earth. The thrill of victory should dance on our tongues and souls since Christ has borne the agony of sin on His shoulders.

Perhaps the wonder of your relationship with Christ has been obscured by a misplaced emphasis on the character of God. Yes, He is holy; yes, He is a righteous Judge. But He always exercises these attributes within the framework of His mercy and grace.  When you were saved, God became your loving Father. You are His treasured, precious son or daughter. Nothing you do will change His steadfast, fatherly love. Run if you will; rebel against His rule; yet the Father's heart does not turn away from you.

When you were saved, Christ became your faithful friend. He is always there for you. You can never offend Him or disappoint Him since He knew you perfectly before you were saved and still He brought you to Himself (Rom. 5:6). He wants to help you, regardless of the mess you may have made. You are free to enjoy God because He has removed all of the barriers.

He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation (Eph. 2:14).

Your freedom from sin's penalty and power do not come cheaply. Your symbol of true freedom --- liberty from the chains of sin and self -- is a costly one. It is steeped in the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son.  On Calvary, Christ fought and secured your deliverance from sin. He paid the supreme price, the sacrifice of His divine life. The grace of God is wonderful, marvelous. But it is yours only through the ransom paid by God to God through Christ's torturous death.

Bearing the guilt of your sin, He died in your place, turning aside the wrath of holy God. His sacrifice satisfied God's justice and opened heaven's doors to those who place their faith in Him. There is nothing passive about the Cross. There is nothing cheap about salvation. It is a gift --- a costly one.  Have you received Christ as your personal Savior? The gift of eternal life is free if you believe, but it was secured at a most extravagant price.

He loves YOU more than you'll ever know. To know the Lord as your Heavenly Father; (Abba-Father-Dad) takes a personal relationship with Him, that must be worked on DAILY.

Did You Know?

Did You Know.......

As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S. Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world’s law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full view ....... it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

Did you know........

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

Did you know......

As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

Did you know.......

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C.

Did you know.......

James Madison, the fourth president, known as “The Father of Our Constitution” made the following statement: “We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

Did you know......

Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said: “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Did you know.....

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayers since 1777.

Did you know.......

Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

Did you know.......

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting the law would begin making law anarchy the rule of few over many.

Did you know.........

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said: “Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers.” How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or “In God We Trust” on our money and having God in our Pledge of Allegiance. Why don’t we just tell the 14% to Sit Down and shut up.... or go back to the country to live.

As Christians, we need to make a stand for what we say we believe in. Professing to be a Christian but not possessing the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord is two different things.

I will coin a phrase for you.... Christianity is more than a word, it is a LIFE-STYLE! Biblical servanthood is always clocked in the garment of true humility. It is not self-seeking. Its real value lies not in pleasing or helping the one served, but in honoring the Master and reflecting His character.

Do you serve others so that you can be recognized for your efforts? Do you serve to gain position or acknowledgment?

You can maintain such humility only by cultivating an intimate relationship with the servant heart of Jesus Christ. The dearer Jesus is to you, the more you are enveloped in His holy humility. The more in awe you are of God, the less likely you are to succumb to pride.

County Jail Communicator

The purpose of this column is to share t the love of Jesus with you. May He speak to your heart through these words.

And about the nineth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" Matthew 27:46
These words were spoken as Jesus hung on the cross between the earth and sky, with the life slowly draining out of Him. For all of eternity up to this point, He had always felt His Father's (God's) presence and heard God's voice. Now He felt and heard nothing . So He cried out, "My God, My God, why have you left Me?"

If Jesus felt that God had turned His back on Him just when He needed God most, why are we surprised when we feel this way? Are we less important to God then Jesus is? Quite the contrary! Do you know that God loves us every bit as much as He loves His son, Jesus? Jesus said this himself as He prayed for His disciples and all who would believe in Jesus as their Savior. In Luke 17:23, while He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus said, "I in them and You in Me; that they maybe made perfect in one, and that this world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them (US!) as you have loved Me."
"So", you ask, "If God loved Jesus as much, why didn't He rescue Jesus from the cross? If God loves me so much, why doesn't He rescue me from prison, this nursing home, this hospital, this disease this________________?" You fill in the blank . Why does it feel like God has left you to suffer so much?
Because He had a plan for Jesus and He also has a plan for you! God is NOT some sadistic spirit who lives up in the sky and thinks it's funny to watch humans being hurt and kill each other. He is caring, loving, compassionate Father who longs to have a close relationship with each and everyone of us. Relationships survive on trust and God wants us to trust Him with everything in our lives. Not just when we need something from Him. Just like a good human father earns his child's trust. Jesus made a CHOICE to die on the cross of Calvary to pray for the sins of the world. Jesus was the only way that the world could have true relationship with God our creator. God's plan was to raise Jesus from death to prove to mankind that He (God) has power and dominion over every thing. God longs for you to trust Him as He noise you up out of the pain and loneliness you feel. By pulling back from you a little, He teaches you to trust Him more. God is still there. Trust Him. Gene

"Bait & Hook"

Sin has a gripping effect once you have allowed it into your life. The root of that sin starts to take hold and the longer that you allow that sin to grow in your life, it will start to spread into other areas of your life as well. Some people think that they can control the sin that they have allowed into their life. It all starts out so small and simple, then from no where, it all gets out of control. See, that’s how the enemy works. The enemy, allows you to get away with the small stuff. Then he starts to tempt you with getting a little bigger, and bigger to the point that you are convinced that you will never get caught. The enemy is all about Bait & Hook.

Please understand that the enemies main purpose is to DESTROY. He gets you in so deep, that you are blinded by all the signs of sin, that are all around you. By the way, the devil knows your weakness and he will play on them. He would be a fool not too. The only way to truly get rid of the sin in your life is to repent. The word repent means to turn away from and never return. The Lord needs to increase in your life. His Word needs to be in your heart. When the enemy attacks you, do what Jesus did when the enemy confronted him. Jesus said, “It is written”?. Speak the Word of the God and tell the enemy he needs to go. Become more spiritual and grow in the Word and the sin in your life will diminish because there will be no more room for it. Fill your life with the Word.

Searching His Word

The Bible studies that are being held behind the walls, in nursing homes, hospitals and in the homes, are growing. God is blessing us, as we grow into a better understanding of His word and who He is.

WHAT DO ANGELS DO

This month we will be studying about “What Do Angels Do”. Please read and look up every scripture.

“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14 RSV)

Angel is used to translate the Hebrew word of the Old Testament pronounced mal-awk, and the Greek word of the New Testament pronounced ang-el-os. Both original words mean messenger. Angels were highly active throughout Bible history, and prophecy has many references to their role in all that is set to occur in the end time.

A. Facts About Angels

Angels are spirit beings that were created before humans. They do not marry, and do not die. There are a vast number of them. Angels are not to be worshipped.

Ø Psalms 148:2-5

Ø Colossians 1:16 & 2:18

Ø Luke 20:34-36

Ø Matthew 22:30

Ø Hebrews 12:22

Ø Revelation 5:11 & 22:8-9

B. There are various orders and forms of angels.

Ø Romans 8:38

Ø Ephesians 1:21 & 3:10

Ø Colossians 2:15

Ø 1 Peter 3:22

Although spirit beings, whenever they dealt directly with humans they usually appeared as ordinary looking humans.

Ø Genesis 19:1, 5

Michael is the only angel that is specifically called an archangel. He and the righteous angels under him defeated Satan and his demons after which they were cast down to the earth.

Ø Revelation 12:7-10

It was Michael who stopped Satan from stealing the body of Moses after he died.

Ø Jude 9

Gabriel is a high ranking angel who delivered important prophetic messages from God to specific people, including to the prophet Daniel, to Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, and to Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.

Ø Daniel 8:15-17 & 9:21-24

Ø Luke 1:11-19 & 1:26-35

The very high-ranking angel Lucifer (meaning Light Bringer) was at first obedient and righteous servant of God --- at one time he could have been the best friend that a Christian could have! But he rebelled, becoming known as Satan (means accuser) . A great multitude of lesser angels foolishly followed him in his rebellion, and are now commonly known as demons.

Angels were very active throughout the Old Testament, including at the destruction of Sodom, announcing the birth of Isaac to Abraham and Sarah, serving Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Samson, and Elijah.

Ø Genesis 28:12 & 31:11

Ø Genesis 32:1 & 48:16

Ø Exodus 3:2

Ø Joshua 5:13-15

Ø Judges 6:11-40

Ø Judges 13

Ø 1 Kings 19:5-8

Remember that angels are a creation of God and not to be worshipped. You should not pray to them as they can not help you or answer your prayers. The only one that you should be praying to is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as He a lone mediates for us.

Action & Relationships

This column is written by Dennis in hope that you will take the necessary action to have a true relationship with God.

Sin and it's Consequences

We all know about sin and it's consequences. Yet in our daily lives, we continue to break God's laws and sin. Adam's transgression brought sin into the world and its consequences spread to all people. We must start to realize if we haven't already, that sin is a serious offense against the Lord and that no one sins without affecting others. It's easy to view sin lightly in a world that sees sin as inconsequential or, "everybody is doing it," but again, we must view sin seriously. We must further remember that we can not ignore God's law and think we are immune from the consequences of our sin. Just as we can not ignore the laws of the land and think we are immune from it's consequences. There are allot of us who are paying the price for our disobedience to these laws. Remember that just because the punishment we may receive for our sins is not immediate or dramatic does not mean that God is indifferent to them.

Before you give into temptation take a close look at the disastrous consequences that sin may have on your life and the lives of others. Think of what's more important; short term pleasures or long term consequences. Most important though the wrong you do and its consequences might be suffering and separation from the God who loves you and its trying to help you.

If you are to run the race of the Christian life effectively, then you must deal with sin before it immobilizes you. Sins pleasures have such great appeal, but again, sin will put you into bondage with it. Sin enslaves us. You may think that what you are doing is a "harmless" act or not very bad, but these so called "little" sins have a way of growing out of control. By calling sin by a softer name will change neither its offensiveness to God nor its cost to you. Let God help you with your "little" sins before

they turn into tragedies. Remember this also: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

When enticed to join others in wrong doing stay out of it. When beings tempted and then the desire is conceived it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full grown gives birth to death. For the wages of sin is death. In Romans 8:5 it states; " Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live according to the spirit have their minds set on what the spirit desires."

In closing, if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us and we further make him out a liar and His word has no place in out lives. (see I John 1:8-10). Jesus alone can break the shackles of sin in your life and obedience to God's law is a spiritual safeguard from sin and its deadly consequences. We must face up to our sins before we can put them behind us.

Finally then. "You will reap what you sow." (see Galations 6:7-9) And as it is written in James 5:16; "Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

Remember always, that God and only God is the... Final Solution!!!        Dennis

When the enemy reminds you of your past ......... Remind him of his future!

The past is all the enemy has to use against you. The enemy that comes to seek & destroy your life uses your past sins to make you feel that you are weak and worthless. He is the father of lies, and he knows you weakness. He is the enemy and he has had lots of practice of destroying lives. He does not want you to know that in Christ we have the V I C T O R Y. J E S U S paid it all!

Pastors Corner

Excepting and believing in Christ is not enough. We need to be in service to Him. Some Christians have forgotten you don’t have to be a preacher to serve Him. Right where you live, God can use you. It just takes a willing vessel. Uplifting a brother/sister by encouraging them to go on in the Lord. 1 Peter 4:9-10 “Use hospitality one to another without grudging as every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

Stop. Take the time and listen. What if God told you .... sorry I am a little busy right now. We only make time for what we feel is important as I am sure that we have told others .... sorry I am too busy right now. Helping someone is our duty, Jesus set the example by becoming a servant Himself. Romans 12:13 “Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality”. In a hurry and rushed society that we have become, we need to slow down, stop and reexamine our lives to find out how we filled our time up and with what. Make time to reach out to someone, even if it’s praying for them, maybe being a good listener.

We tell ourselves that we cannot serve God because we just don’t have the time. It’s all about Jesus, much as He did, where ever His travels took Him He made the time to minister to those that He came into contact with. Learn how to serve wherever life takes you. You can reach out in so many ways. Life is a gift, don’t waste it. Spend time in praying for our country, our leaders, our pastors, our families, our friends, our neighbors, our shut-ins, yes, even our enemies. Bottom line is this, we all have 24 hours in a day and choose everyday just how we will spend this time. Does God get MORE of your time everyday, or do you choose to give Him LESS. It’?s all about making time and that is required when your in any kind of relationship. Make time to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus. He made the time and gave His life for you. Experience the power of prayer in your life. Live to serve!

Behind The Walls

The American Hero

 by; Roger Robicheau

The American Hero always comes through
To capture our hearts with a spirit so true

Some proudly are soldiers who march in harm's way
Insuring our freedom, courageous they stay

While others come forth as civilians so brave
Determined in purpose, so steadfast to save

We should always keep clear a place in our heart
For each has a value beyond precious art

Their duty to country will not be surpassed
Please honor their courage, for some it is their last

We live in a world which can be hard to bear
Thank God for these people, how greatly they care

Do ponder new heroes and what they will face
And pray for their safety no matter their place

Our heritage brings out the best, we all know
Our great book of heroes is destined to grow

Behind these Walls

A love of His is buried there in. And lonely cries his soul. Dear God in heaven keep him close. Lest hell should take its toll. For prison cells and prison stone. Hold not the anguished cry. It echo's in hands chambers That space can not defy O, give him hope and give him dreams To heal the dried despair. For night's are dark and hell is deep. Before the morning air. And wise men in their hearts. Knowing that love is a healing balm. So, echo love, through darkened cells. God speed the breaking dawn.

The Master

Every seed is sown with love. And watered with his tears. Each one is cultivated by His word. Throughout the years. He protects each beautiful blossom. In the shadow of His wings. Jesus, the master Gardner. The creator of all wonderful things. In His eyes he sees a garden. That is waiting to be grown. From the smallest little seedling. He call's each one his own. Within His little garden. Growing stronger in His sunshine. Where love was meant to be.

Broken Dreams

As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend,

I brought my broken dreams to God because He was my friend.

But then, instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone,

I hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own.

At least, I snatched the back and cried,

"How can you be so slow?" "My child" he said, "What could I do ? " You never did let go."

How We Recall
by ; Roger J. Robicheau (Sp 5, US Army)

How we recall that day we swore
To serve our country to the core
That clothing issued brought a view
Of raw recruits, this showed so true
Remembered hair was cut away
This look for quite awhile would stay
Our trek before too long did show
New GI's marching, row by row
And then one day emerged a form
Each proud trained troop in uniform
We followed orders as we should
To do our best, in pride we would
Some served in peace, some went to war
Brave heroes passed through Heaven's door
We cherished friends who served with us
Great buddies all, how we'd discuss
So many thoughts will never wane
For what we shared, let closeness reign
Our bond was tight, the best to see
For when we served, this had to be
The purpose was to keep you free
God Bless

Lake Erie C. I.

I just would like to share this verse found in Jeremiah 29:11-13

“For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will harken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” --- I hope you will seek him with ALL of your heart!

Remember

Just thought we should all remember this Memorial Day where our country came from. Many of us lost loved ones in wars over the years. There is a void, a lose that never can be filled. We can honor those who paid the supreme price for freedom by praying for salvation for their families.

What We Need

We need to have a PURPOSE We need to have a PLAN We need to set a special goal

To reach our fellow man We need a PASSION for the souls That never knew our Lord We need to lead them from the life When Hell is the reward. We need to have an urgent PRAYER

The God will lead the way. We need to pray for poor, lost souls.

For those who’ve gone astray. We need to go and give the Word. As God has told us to, Never feel that it’s a burden it’s the work were called to do.

Sinners

There are sinners saved and sinners lost, But the choice is all their own, For the ransom is paid for the price of sin; heist paid it all alone. The wages of Sin is death, you know, But Christ in His love for men made sacrifice of Himself for all that need not be made again.

                                                         Life is like a River

Someone once told me that you never step into the same river twice. At that time I really didn't understand what that statement meant. As I mature in my spirituality I seem to realize how profound statements such as "never stepping in the same river twice" are. I seem to "get it" and I believe this measures my growth.

Change inevitable and change is the norm not the exception. I am going through some anxiety due to change right now and I have to keep reminding myself that growth comes with change if we allow it to.

Another statement someone shared with me once was "when one door closes another one opens." I'm trying to keep this in my mind as well. New
opportunities present themselves when change occurs. I remember prior to coming to prison I worked in Detroit. I decided to change jobs which required me to relocate.  Relocating and expressing a different part of Michigan drove me to grow professionally and personally. At that time I looked at change as an adventure.

In about a month or so the prison I am in will close and us inmates will be moving to another prison. I'm not sure what this move will mean. I've gotten comfortable with the known and now I feel like I'm being uprooted. I take comfort in the fact that many of the inmates feel like I do.

Thinking about this change I am reminded that life is like a river. A river is always moving, flowing. It never gets stagnate. Life needs to move and flow too, so new
growth can occur. I guess I'm in a process of growth and that is a good thing. I'm not sure what is in store in the near future, but I do know that whatever it is with God in charge, it will be in my best interest.

Lord, This Man!

Lord forgive this man. And the sins I have done. Because you can see, And know everyone.

Lord renew this man, And refresh his soul. Make new my mind. And I will be whole.

Lord receive this man, And make me a servant. Now teach me to pray, That I will do so fervent.

Lord rescue this man, And keep me from fire. Lord live inside my heart, That’s my deepest desire.
